Uma defesa filosófica do sincretismo religioso

Meu objetivo neste artigo é fazer uma defesa do sincretismo religioso e mostrar que as críticas geralmente direcionadas a tal conceito na filosofia da religião são equivocadas. Para fazer isso, num primeiro momento, apresentarei uma discussão sobre a definição de sincretismo e algumas críticas comuns à ideia de sincretismo religioso. Num segundo momento, defendo que tais críticas são, em geral, fruto de compreensões equivocadas do que seja religião e defenderei uma abordagem da religião que a compreenda como sistemas maleáveis de crenças e práticas. Por último, defendo que, se levarmos em conta tal concepção de religião, os argumentos contrários ao sincretismo não se sustentam. Neste sentido, defenderei que o sincretismo é nem lógica, nem epistemologicamente inconsistente e que há boas razões filosóficas para aceitar tal processo no interior das religiões.
